AI is not the future of ministry. The Holy Spirit is. Here’s a clear ethical framework for using AI wisely in children’s ministry: privacy, accuracy, originality, and the theology check.

The Perfect Children’s Pastor
The perfect Children’s Pastor doesn’t exist. The perfect fit at one church could be a terrible fit at another. The “perfect” Children’s Pastor is a subjective idea. However, I would venture to say that there are some key qualities or ideals that set some apart from the crowd. Children’s Pastors who excel in these EIGHT QUALITIES are truly special.
Tracking Ministry Metrics
As reluctant as we would be to drive a vehicle without a speedometer, a gas gauge, or a temperature gauge – it’s amazing how many of us lead ministries for years paying little (if any) attention to the data, feedback, and metrics that describe what is happening under the hood.

Leading a NextGen meeting: the Agenda
Last week at Orange, I led a breakout called “Aligning Your NextGen Team.” A big portion of this breakout was unpacking concepts around leading meetings. One of the best ways to align a team is to meet frequently. Last year at Orange, I led a breakout just on leading meetings. This has been a fun journey for me because 18-24 months ago, I was amazing at leading terrible meetings. After a lot of research, learning from others and implementing some great ideas, I now lead good meetings and sometimes they’re really great. Maybe one day they’ll be fantastic!
One of the most important components to a good meeting is having an agenda.
KidMin Job Titles Explained: Finding the Right Title for Your Role
Some people get really creative with their job titles.
Director of Smiles
Ministry Ninja
Director of Amazement
These are hilarious and I’m sure they make having the title fun and energizing. However, for everyone outside the organization, it’s hard to know what you actually do. I think this is worth considering.
I’ve run into this dilema lately. I’m a NextGen Pastor, essentially I oversee all ministry to kids and students (or the Next Generation). This role is similar to a Family Pastor or Director of Family Ministry as this is very similar to the NextGen role. However, there’s some room for confusion here. The term Family Ministry is subjective.
